Sara Fitzgerald brings a rare combination of perspectives to Imagineeer’s growth strategy — she has sat on both sides of the table, as a federal employee shaping IT policy and strategy from the inside, and as a consultant helping agencies solve their hardest problems from the outside. That dual vantage point is her edge.
At Imagineeer, Sara leads capture strategy and brand positioning — owning the relationship intelligence, competitive dynamics, and market presence that feed Imagineeer’s pursuit decisions. She shapes technical narratives before RFP release, builds and maintains the teaming partnerships that open real doors, and ensures Imagineeer shows up with authority at industry days, in agency conversations, and in every capability statement that goes out the door.
Her federal experience spans the Food & Drug Administration, the Department of State, and the Department of the Navy. At FDA, Sara spent over a decade as as the IT Security Policy Program Lead under the Office of the CIO — managing the full cycle of IT security policy development, helping shape the agency’s five-year IT strategic plan, and building a security awareness training program from scratch that achieved 100% compliance annually and earned multiple FISSEA awards. Multiple awards received during her time at the FDA to include the Commissioner’s Special Recognition Award for work on the IT strategy and COO Excellence in Communication award.
Before joining FDA as a full-time employee, Sara supported the agency in a contractor role — and was recruited directly into federal service based on her performance. Earlier in her career at BearingPoint/Deloitte, she supported the Department of the Navy’s five-year strategic planning effort and led a compliance and training engagement at the Department of State that began as a three-month project and grew to two years — delivering award-winning results that measurably improved the department’s FISMA grade enterprise-wide.
At Imagineeer, Sara’s role is the strategic point — applying relationship and market context to sharpen pursuit decisions, refine proposals from draft to winning, and build the brand presence that ensures Imagineeer is known, trusted, and considered long before a solicitation is released.
